[Problem solving] I tried to tell the students about Mission Cone in class! – “Let’s start with the mission! “

The word “philosophy” came out in a certain subject, so I jumped out of the official content and told the students about the “mission cone” that I usually use. My class is always flying like this (laughs) Student eyes were shining ☆彡

Speaking of classes, students are preparing and I can understand textbooks by reading, so I provide topics that are not written in textbooks, students will probably hear for the first time, such as “?” It may be more correct to say that you are doing.

By the way, I wrote that textbooks can be understood by reading, but the books I use for class are carefully selected from many similar books, so I wrote that I can understand if I read them. Actually, the number of books that cannot be understood only by reading is increasing (recently, both cats and scoops have been published and there is no discipline… crying), so I think it is a terrible story in a sense, but we can study the contents of our students. I think it is necessary to select carefully for this.

Why?

If it is a textbook that can be read and understood, it is good for me to be able to talk other than that textbook in the class ☆ For example, clinically appropriate talk, talking that applies from the basics all at once, or in textbooks like this It’s written, but it’s actually? I want to talk about such a terrible story, so I think everyday and make plans and challenge the class, so suddenly it’s suddenly well prepared! But the students are getting used to it, and it may be a little less stimulating (laughs).

The story went off the road, but let’s talk about “Mission Cone” from here!
By the way, “Let’s start with the mission!” The author, Yuta Namiki, is a former McKinsey’s youngest executive! It’s amazing ☆ 彡

  1. What is a mission cone?
  2. How to make a mission cone
  3. Usage examples of mission cones
  4. Application of mission cone in rehabilitation
  5. Summary

1. What is a mission cone?

The mission cone is “evidence,” which is our current strengths and achievements, “benefits (two functional and emotional),” which is the value that can be provided by being supported by evidence, and the ultimate goal of being supported by benefits. It is a conceptual figure of a pyramid type consisting of three layers of the figure “Mission” (see figure).

Let’s look at each definition (see figure above).
A mission is a “philosophy/goal” that defines the vision and the value to be provided.
The point is to put it together in one word that is easy to understand and understand.

Benefit is divided into two by “value”. One is the “functional benefit,” which is the value that the organization can provide as a real benefit, and the other is the “emotional benefit,” which is the invisible psychological value.
Describe who will provide what value.

Evidence is “evidence/foundation“, which is an objective fact or basis.
We will describe our current strengths and achievements, and what we should have in the future.

2.Creating a mission cone

When creating a Mission Cone, start by listing all the underlying evidence. Try to identify your strengths and past achievements as an organization, and set objective and concrete facts as evidence.

Next, we will clarify the “benefits” that are the value that can be provided by being supported by this evidence. As I explained earlier, you will write “functional” and “emotional” benefits.
It’s hard to understand by itself, so imagine what you love. I thought that I would like a little if a woman, I finally bought it and am currently using it.

For example, let’s say you get the bag you love and want Vuitton at last.
The functional benefit that this bag offers is “to carry and carry things in”. On the other hand, the emotional benefits are that you can have a “rich feeling,” “high feeling,” and “good feeling.” Is it easy to understand if you imagine this?

Once the evidence reveals the benefits, you will eventually look for words that describe the conditions that can provide this benefit. A “mission” is a “verbalization” of what it will look like. In the next section, we will introduce a practical example.

3.Usage examples of mission cones

Here, I’ll explain the content I used in the class yesterday… Read it as if you were taking my class (laughs).

The following settings are used in the class.

First, the evidence settings.
Evidence A: We can provide high quality and varieties of coffee! (Barista)
Evidence B: Can produce a thorough atmosphere! (BGM/Sofa)
Evidence C: A symbol with a story!
Evidence D: Thorough employee education!

Next is the benefit.
Functional Benefits: You can spend your time at home, at work, or at a school, wherever you are!
Emotional Benefits: Enrich your irreplaceable day!

Don’t you think it is a benefit supported by some good evidence?
At this point, you’re amazing that you could have imagined “I’m not sure that company”☆彡

Supported by these, it is finally a mission.
Mission: Provide “3rd Place” to customers who are sensitive to urban trends!

how is it? You’ll understand when you get here! That’s right, it’s Starbucks ☆ 彡

I will introduce one more bonus! This was also presented in the class yesterday.
Do you know where the company below is? I will write the answer at the end of this article (laugh)

  1. Application of mission cone in rehabilitation

I explained this mission cone to the students because, as I wrote at the beginning, “the idea came out of the lesson”, but do you understand what you wanted to hide behind it and tell the students?

As a teacher of a rehabilitation therapist training school, students are 100% physiotherapists. It used to be so far. At other universities, it seems that some of them are graduating and graduating just to get a “Bachelor” license. In the age of diversification, we have been collecting information for a long time, thinking that it is necessary to deal with such people.

This was not the case until last year, but in the era of “with corona,” the work of therapists who come into contact with people has changed, and it has come to a time of change, recognizing that students need such a response. I have to let I feel like it’s finally my turn (laughs)

So, I would like to write about “application in rehabilitation” which is also the title of this section. Please stay with us for a while.

For example, here I write about “physiotherapist/Kojini teacher

First is the evidence. Physiotherapists identify what personal strengths, organizational strengths, and past achievements, and try to find objective and concrete facts as evidence.

evidence:
・Clinic 14 years, education 18 years, total 32 years experience
・Under clinical enrollment, the number of immortal monthly patients reached 765 (total number of patients)
・Total number of patients involved, approximately 130,000 (total number of patients)
・Many medically trained diseases (specialized in “brain rehabilitation”)
・Education of about 800 graduates

If you think about it a lot, it will come out a lot, but let’s do this for now.

Next is the benefit.

Functional benefits
・Improvement of patients
・Contribute to recovery
・Rehabilitation with the patient
・A great deal of trust from patients and their families
・Trusted by students and parents

Emotional Benefits-I feel like I’ll be healed when I see him. I feel like I can have an impact on the clinical world. I can understand me when I give it to me. I feel I can have an influence on the world of education.

Mission
・Increase the number of people who live in good spirits by making patients and families, students and parents smile.

  1. Summary

I explained about “Mission Cone“. When we hear that it is a mission, we often think that it belongs to a company, but I feel the importance of having it not only in the company but also in departments and departments. Actually, I am the head of the department of a rehabilitation therapist training school. Not because I became the head of the department, but because I originally liked this kind of direction (business, etc.), I feel that the vector had been heading for an ante since before.

It was not difficult to set missions, benefits and supporting evidence that I think of as a department, but it was a little difficult for me to understand the missions of people in the middle of business and departments. This point was able to be overcome by extending my mission to the top, though it took time.

This time, it was a development from the word “philosophy” that came out to the students during the class, but I am glad that I was able to disclose the information to everyone. Once again, I was able to confirm my position as “Kojini”. It was good ☆彡

By creating a “Mission Cone“, you can raise yourself up to a higher perspective of the corporate body. I think it would be interesting to think about it alone, but if you think with someone in the department, or everyone together, you will come up with a different perspective or new idea, and there will be a synergistic effect! Teamwork can be strengthened by asking your boss for opinions and thinking while working together with colleagues and subordinates!

By going through such a process, the element of “
“, which is the condition of the leader, will be satisfied. We also believe that this is an important process that will lead to the discovery of the next true leader.

Thank you for reading to the end today. I would be more than happy if this information would be useful to you. See you again! Ciao☆彡
